Nigerian Dwarf and Nubian Goats
Owlhaven Farm strives to produce beautiful and productive milkers and family pets. Our herd is small to ensure that each goat gets the care it deserves and that will prepare it to be a healthy and productive companion.
What makes Owlhaven different?
Nigerian Dwarf Goats: Nigerian Dwarf Goats are considered rare by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. They have sweet natures, are natural comics, produce high quality milk rich in butterfat, and are about the size of a golden retriever.
Nubian Goats: Known as the Jersey cow of goats, Nubians are about the size of a small pony and produce large quantities of milk that is rich in butterfat and protein. Like the Nigerians, they are great companions and pets.
Mini-Nubian Goats: Mini-Nubians are crosses between Nigerian Dwarf Goats and Nubian Goats. They produce more milk than Nigerians, and are easier to handle, house, and feed than standard-sized Nubian Goats. Owlhaven will begin offering Mini-Nubians in 2013.
Why goat milk? Goat milk is naturally homogenized, making it healthier than cow milk. Goat milk protein is more easily digested, and it is less acid than cow's milk. Overall, it is the healthy choice, and as a result, urban goat farming is a growing trend, with cities like Pasadena, CA; Seattle, WA; and Portland, OR allowing dairy goats.
What makes Owlhaven different?
- Easy to handle goats: We promise that all goats sold will be used to being handled and will be well-trained according to their age and purpose.
- Excellence in customer service: We will help you get set up, teach you how to milk, and be there if you need us along the way.
- Affordable pricing: As an educator, my primary goal is not to make a large profit, but rather to help human and goat kids get a great start in life.
- Buyer rewards program!: In addition to great discounts, buyers receive rewards when their purchased goats make milestones, such as receiving a milk star!
